Spring 2003
City safari and colonial style
Jackpot has chosen to divide its collection into
two lines starting with its 2003 spring collection.
One line is simply called Jackpot and it is how
we know and love Jackpot – amusing patterns,
gay colours, flowers and multi stripes lightly supplemented
with solids. The other line is called Jackpot At
Ease and is designed to approach fashion with a
more classic style. The garments are mainly one-coloured
but are supplemented however by a few stripes and
simple patterns. The two lines are designed for
limitless mixing and matching if you feel like it,
and the colour palettes are coordinated to match.
Jackpot has chosen to present the collections separately
in the shops, which makes the garments appear distinguished
and very inviting.
Style, intuitive energy and dusty savannah have
been a great source of inspiration for Jackpot’s
2003 spring collection. The focus is on adventures
and safaris but in a way which is also sophisticated
in the city. Heavy cotton with uneven structures
duels with large stitches. A practical cotton and
nylon quality with a smooth surface whispers crisply
in your ear when you drive across the plain or through
the city. Heavy knitwear in plain silhouettes with
ribbed edges or practical zips, and big cable knits
are beautifully mixed with all the qualities of
linen or crepe viscose. Several of the qualities
are washed and appear raw and worn in a very pretty,
delicate way.
Plenty of big pockets, shoulder straps and roll-up
effect on the sleeves, tie-belts and reinforced
knees and elbows. Functional waistcoats will be
essential accessories. As a bold contrast to the
pure styles there are jeans with hand painted flowers.
When the day’s work is done it is time to
change for dinner, ultra feminine dresses with a
glimpse of the golden cleavage. The tops have lace
edges, frills and draw-strings, and the skirts and
trousers are available in several lengths and silhouettes.
Blouses with many feminine details like for example
a large collar, which can be pulled over the shoulder,
as well as a lycra shirt with draw-strings –
the lycra makes the models very flexible.
The colours for Jackpot 2003 also belong to the
colonial style: khaki, olive, beige and white are
accompanied by old rose and red. When the summer
draws nearer, it all explodes in a riot of colours
with lilac, cerise, rose pink and orange tones.
Jackpot’s patterns are as always something
special: tapestries like the ones in the room with
the open fireplace, small flower prints which are
subsequently painted with uneven stripes, small-chequered
patterns and an abundance of stripes in various
designs and colour combinations. A burst of watercolour-painted
flowers is trimmed at the edge with frills and laces,
which contrast with narrow stripes in the most fantastic
way. Everything radiates a pure, poetic and vital
energy.
